World leader in parcel delivery is optimizing its sorting process

Royal Mail is the UK’s designated Universal Postal Service Provider, supporting customers, businesses, and communities across the country. Royal Mail is the only company that has the capability to deliver a ‘one-price-goes-anywhere’, six-days-a-week service on a range of letters and parcels to more than 29 million addresses across the UK.

The postal market faces reduced mail volumes and a growing number of postal companies are rethinking their parcel delivery services. To become more successful in this market, Royal mail is investing in optimizing their sorting process. The prime contractor on the program is Solution Net Systems (formally Datalogic US). SNS partnered with Royal Mail and key subcontractors (Equinox, Romec, and BASE), to develop the bespoke solution.

The final solution, referred to as the LPSS (Linear Parcel Sorting System) will be installed in multiple distribution centers all over the UK. The solution consists of:
